St Patrick’s Day Animal Shirts + FREE Cut Files

I am lucky.

A more accurate term would be “blessed”, but with St. Patrick’s Day coming up this weekend, we’re going with “lucky” today. I am lucky to be married to my best friend, to have three healthy, beautiful boys, to live next to the mountains, to own a beautiful home of our own, and to blog about my creations to you. You see, St. Patrick’s Day is one of those holidays that I wonder why we celebrate. I don’t drink, so that part of it doesn’t appeal to me. Green holds a rare occurrence in my closet. And I’m left wondering why leprechauns, pots of gold, and getting pinched for not wearing green get to come on the same day every year. In an effort to enjoy this holiday more, I’m turning this around and turning it into a celebration of “lucks”!

Right now, I am lucky to share these St. Patrick’s Day shirts with you as part of the Sewing by Ti Spring Into Color Blog Tour. And you are lucky as well, because the cut files for these cute St. Paddy’s day animals are available to you for free at the end of this post!

Spring Into Color Blog Tour by Sewing By Ti

Most of the ladies on this tour are basing their creations off of the Pantone Spring 2018 color chart. The vibrant green on these shirts don’t quite match anything on the color chart, but we can pretend the green is a variant of Nile Green, yeah? Truthfully I just wanted an external deadline to make these in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Plus this holiday is a nice entrance into spring!

I revisited the P4P raglan tee for this make. When I made it before, the sleeves were 3/4 length and sported the curved hem and the triangle mark at the neckline. This time I went with short sleeves and a straight hem, and cute little animals instead of the triangles. I really can’t get enough of Patterns for Pirate’s patterns! They just fit so well, the tutorials are easy to follow, and I love how the pattern pieces are fit together. I’m a broken record here, but seriously, if you haven’t tried any of their patterns, go and do it!

I took advantage of Raspberry Creek Fabric’s St. Patrick’s Day collection by using the green and white stripe knit for the sleeves. The body is from white jersey knit from Jo-Ann.

The animal iron-ons were created using my recently purchased Cricut Explore 2 and the Kelly Green, Silver, and Black Iron-on vinyls. I have been creating up a storm lately and there’s a review coming soon, but for now I wanted to share the cut files I made for these shirts with you.

Curious about the animal choices? I knew you were. 😉 Mr. R is loving sharks because of a “cozy” shark blanket I made him for his birthday out of this fabric from Jo-Ann (by the way, having Jo-Ann 5 minutes away from me is really not helping my crafting addiction!). And honestly, if a shark came up to you on St. Patrick’s Day and you weren’t wearing green, you know you’d get bitten. The text on this shirt is quite accurate, don’t you think?

Mr. A’s current favorite stuffed animal is an elephant I bought from Target for Mr. L before he was born. The day I bought it and for a few weeks after I kept explaining that it belonged to Mr. L, not him. Yet somehow Mr. A now sleeps with it every night. Sorry Mr. L, I’ll get you another one someday!

If you look close, the elephant on Mr. A’s shirt is quite lucky indeed – he’s found a four-leaf clover amongst a field of 3-leaf clovers!

Lastly, Mr. L has a lion. We have a bit of a lion fettish over here. You see, Mr. L’s name is really Leo, so it only fits that everything becomes lion-themed for him, right? He’s our lucky charm right now, and is truly the “luck o’ the lion”.
